Watch: AJ+ Examines How Oakland’s Marijuana Law is Serving Justice

Now that recreational marijuana is legal in California, the city of Oakland has mandated that half of all marijuana business permits go to residents who are low income and have a cannabis conviction, or who live in a neighborhood in Oakland that’s been a major police target.

A new video from Al Jazeera’s all digital video news network AJ+ takes a look at the efforts underway in Oakland, CA to repair what the war on drugs destroyed through mass incarceration.  Watch the video below:
